about

Richard Franecki: a name that should be as synonymous with sprawling, spaced-out jams, as Robert Pollard’s is with alternative rock.

Unlike Pollard, however, Franecki has remained hidden underground; a mad scientist of foggy-headed experimentalism, constanting seeking new, aural vibrations; something which his former F/I band members grew tired of. Undeterred, Franecki formed Vocokesh; a meandering, hallucinatory vision, that borrows from the likes of: Ash Ra Temple, Can, Hawkwind and Tangerine Dream, as technical ability is met with progressive shifts and rural psychedelia.

Joined by John Helwig and drummer ‘Rusty’, Dr Hofmann’s Bicycle Ride is at its strongest during times of uncertainly; as lengthy electronic drones, transports the listener into a sci-fi metropolis, before being catapulted back to earth, with a heavy, sonic, thud.

Made largely for the cultists, this 56-minute jam session ensures that Vocokesh will remain ‘underground’ for the foreseeable future, as well as reaffirming Franecki’s position, as the ‘mad scientist’ of modern-day psych.
